Our Mission

Giving international students and immigrants accessible, safe and affordable housing options during their stay in Reno. The Reno International House seeks to serve the practical, relational, emotional and spiritual needs of international students and immigrants in the Reno area.

Our Vision

Every international in the Reno area should have achievable housing, suiting their needs. Whether it is an apartment near the University of Nevada, TMCC or their workplace, international students, scholars and immigrants should have a place to call home. We are building a network of rooming houses, homestay families and partner apartment communities, all working together to provide life and community for internationals in Reno.

Housing Options for International Students and Immigrants

Currently, we offer three housing options
Community Houses and International Apartments
Furnished rooms and apartments for rent, ready to move-in, and with a community to call family. Ideal for single international students at UNR and TMCC.
Homestay Families
Local families with a room for rent, that can be a short-term 1-5 months of housing. This is ideal for younger international students who need a place and family to live with until they find long-term housing in the community, or exchange students looking for an American family experience.
Area Partner Apartments
Apartment complexes, property managers, and rental housing communities that are “international friendly” ... meaning they have and continue to rent to international students and recent immigrants, or have a positive referral and reputation within our international community.

Submitting an application is free, and will get you started. While we cannot guarantee that there is a space, we can provide you with the best resources and a community to belong to.

One of our volunteers will be in touch with you within a week, by email, to review your needs, upcoming openings, or referrals to area apartments

Our Community

We are a community of families, churches, ministries, volunteers and property owners who seek to bridge the housing needs gap for internationals in Reno. Visiting scholars, international students, interns on OPT and H1B work, recent immigrants and exchange workers all face similar challenges in finding and obtaining housing during their stay in Reno/Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada. Not only do we want to connect internationals with the right housing solution, but we want to build an international community that shares multi-cultural life together, and “welcomes the foreigner in our land”. (Leviticus 19:33-34)

Other Services

We work together with International Friends of Reno to provide household items, donated furniture, and airport pickups for international students at UNR and newly arriving immigrants.

For Owners, Property Managers and Apartment Communities

Do you have an apartment or house or other housing property you would like to have listed with us. Consider renting to international students and immigrants.
