Clarification with maid and cleaning service for rooming / community houses. All maid service is required, if there is no housemate agreement (and living up to their agreement to the satisfaction of Reno International House staff) of a minimum of monthly cleaning. All maid service charges are shared equally among the housemates and posted on their payment portal account, above and beyond their normal housing fees.
Also, some required cleaning charges for certain specialized cleaning of items like windows, blinds, carpets, or hiring of RA checkouts, will be automatically deducted out of members' security deposits on hold at move-out. This applies to both community houses and private apartments.

This Guide contains all of the policies, rules, and instructions for being a member of the Reno International House, especially members of community houses. This is a living document, meaning it can change throughout the term of someone's membership. While housing fees, extra optional charges and certain terms will not change during a membership term, some rules, regarding roommates, cleaning, and social living customs may be updated mid-term depending on the need. Please refer to this document regarding questions and expectations of your stay at any Reno International House community home. If you live in a private apartment, some of these rules may apply, however, refer to your membership agreement for details.
Summary of recent changes as of 7/17/2020:
This is a temporary change, that is not published in the permanent member guide.
Effective for all community houses as of August 1 2020, until notified by Resident Assistants later, no guests visiting the home. Only members of that assigned home, staff, vendors and Reno International House volunteers.
This is due to rising concerns of coronavirus spread throughout Nevada. For our move-in month, to help new residents be at ease, along with reducing the risk of outside exposure, we are making this change. We hope to lift it when the pandemic situation improves.

Summary of recent changes as of 6/15/2020:
- A Statement at the top was added to refer to this webpage as the most complete and accurate version of this guide.
- Cleaning supplies: wording was added to clarify that cleaning supplies are the responsibility of members in the home. Fellow roommates should work together to manage and purchase these. "Starter" kits of basic supplies may be given to new arrival members, but this does not imply that cleaning supplies will be regularly provided by the Reno International House
- Internet: Clarification that basic internet may be provided by the Reno International House, however, if someone wants dedicated, or internet service with more speed and stability, they are free to start and pay for internet on their own or together with fellow housemates.
