High, dry, cool.  The Reno-area is a high-desert climate influenced by Sierra ridge winds from Pacific Ocean weather patterns.  Winters are dry and cold with some moderate snowfall (heavy in nearby mountains). Spring is a season of unstable change and a series of storms and dry spells.  Due to the mountain altitude, Spring snowfall into April, May and sometimes June is not uncommon. Summers are short and hot, with strong sunshine, and cool mornings.  Autumn/Fall is warm, short and transitions to cold temperatures in October/November.

Altitude: Approximately 4,600 feet

Averages for Reno (truckee meadows): January 45F High/14F Low, July 95F High/53F Low.  Extremes: All-time low: -19F.  All-time High 108F.
